General Information on Pioneer Forest and the L-A-D Foundation

Directory of Missouri Natural Areas

This directory was published by the Missouri Natural Areas Committee in 1985. It was then updated and reprinted in 1996 and today the information is available online at http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/places-go/natural-areas where you can search by area, county, or in other ways. There is a description of each site, its size, location, and maps. Most of the Foundation's areas have been included.

Discover Missouri Natural Areas

A book sampling a variety of the natural areas across Missouri, written by Michael Leahy, was published in 2011. Photos from a couple of the Foundation's natural areas are included, and Clifty Creek Natural Area is among the 50 which are described in the book. Landowner's Guide to Sustainable Forestry: Maximizing Profits while Protecting Water Quality

This DVD was produced by the Model Forest Policy Program in 2006 to show how sustainable forest practices provide for protection of water quality. The film features foresters and landowners from around the country, but particularly Missouri, Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, discussing how forests can be managed by landowners to produce income while at the same time protecting water quality and quantity, aquatic and terrestrial wildlife habitat, soil, and aesthetics. The L-A-D Foundation's Pioneer Forest is highlighted. Copies are available from the Model Forest Policy Program, P.O. Box 328, Sagle, Idaho 83860.
